During the french revolution Napoleon was low on money and low on supplies. This is when a shocking offer was brought to the attention of the American Ambassator. In the process of trying to purchase the port of New Orleans, the French forign minester offered to sell all of Louisiana.

At first Jefferson didnt like the idea of using large amounts of public money but eventually he realized it would benifit the county. For 15 million dollars Jefferson bought Louisiana and nearly doubled the size of the US, raising Napoleons hopes that the US would threaten the athority of Great Britain.
